Caro

Many years ago on the Isle of Skye in Scotland, there was a Halloween event on at the local pub.

There were not a lot of shops around in the village of Kyleakin and all the backpackers at the local hostel were trying to come up with creative ways to construct a Halloween costume.  I still remember the 2 guys that made garbage bag batman costumes…genius!

At the general store, over the bridge at Kyle of Lochalsh, there sat a small set of Grimas face paints. I purchased them thinking I could paint myself up for the evening and was quite happy with my little find.

I painted myself and walked out to the communal kitchen/dining room. There were gasps of excitement and wonderment. Mostly due to the fact they were surprised I was even able to find something that could be used to create a Halloween look.  Without a word of a lie an instant line formed and everyone wanted to be painted.

I think I painted about twelve other backpackers, before I stood up and said. “Ya know what, paint yourselves, I’m off to the pub!”

On the way there I found myself smiling from ear to ear, thinking…”my goodness that was fun. How cool would that be to do for a job”.

Fast forward 2 years later, 2007, and being a new Mum, I found myself taking face painting up as a hobby. Painting my kids and their friends and then going to friends houses and painting at birthdays and then I found myself at events and to be perfectly honest, it just naturally progressed until I realised, hang on a minute, I’m working every weekend face painting, time to make it a business.

I started out with a long time friend, Julie, and we painted many faces together. Before she moved on with other work and it then became Caro’s Face and Body Painting.

I regularly team up with two other businesses on the Coast, Mandi from Henna Gipsy and Julie from Magical Faces and Magical Balloons. Together we do events and delight in making children happy.

However, even with working with these two ladies, there was still a need and demand. So I thought it was time to change things up and bring some amazing artists on board. Take them under my wing and support them in this fabulous fun filled industry.

I also work with the amazing Creature Tales Team, face painting on board the Spirit of Tasmania on their day sailings. I have been doing this fun and rewarding job on the Spirit for 12 years and I love it immensely.

I’ve been painting in total for 18 years and over the years I have added more activities. Such as glitter tattoos, balloon twisting and soon to be added, airbrush tattoos.

I love what I do and creating fun moments for children at parties and events is really a dream come true. I love their use of imagination when transforming in to their painted personalities, and nothing beats the mirror moment.

Lorin

Lorin grew up in Devonport, on the North West Coast of Tasmania, and has always enjoyed the quieter pace, open space, fresh air and colours of nature that Tassie has to offer. Lorin never has to look or travel far to find inspiration for her art, she sees it all around her.

Lorin’s creative tendencies and artistic eye have given her opportunities in areas of graphic designs, signwriting, videography, photography, makeup artistry and most recently face and body painting artist.

In 2019, Lorin became a mother for the first time, a little girl. 4 days before she was born, Lorin decided to do a maternity belly painting on herself. She fell in love with this art form and began offering the experience as a gift to her pregnant friends. She now offers this service as a unique and creative way for expecting mothers to spoil themselves and capture such a precious time in life. (This also makes for a really special non-traditional baby shower gift) you can see her belly painting art and make bookings enquiries on her face book page “pregnancy, paint and pictures”.

In 2023 her 2nd child was born, a little boy.

Lorin has taken some time to be an at home Mum. In this time she has been building her kit and honing her skills.

Lorin joined Caro’s Creative Crew, late 2023 and has been going ahead in leaps and bounds.  Lorin is fully trained with Glitter Tattoos and Face Painting. Her work is magical and creates her own unique stencils for her designs. Caro’s Creative Crew is very proud that through her amazing artistic ability she also joined the Creature Tales Team and face paints on board the Spirit on the day sailings.

Exciting news, Lorin will be starting her training with balloon twisting soon too.

Here at Caro’s Creative Crew we are just so happy to have this amazing lady as part of the team, she has a natural ability to connect with the kids and shines ever so bright.

Larissa

Larissa is the newest member of the crew and is based in Burnie., which is exciting for that part of the north west coast.
Larissa is doing balloon twisting, and my goodness she picks it all up very quickly.

Larissa is a Mum to two young boys and she got in to balloon twisting as a fun activity to do with her 4 year old. She soon discovered she really enjoyed twisting balloons and learning all the different designs that could be made with balloons.
Larissa loves seeing the joy it can bring to people of all ages.

Larissa has always been creative, and has many artistic hobbies, when she is not balloon twisting, she is crocheting, sewing, dancing, reading or playing her guitar or piano.

Larissa is a delight and the children will naturally gravitate to this warm and welcoming young lady.

Larissa will be learning glitter tattoos soon too, so that is something to look forward to as well, another notch in her creative belt.

Larissa is still training and has a special rate for Balloon Twisting until the end of August.

Here at Caro’s Creative Crew we are very proud of Larissa’s determination and ability to master designs within a few minutes, she was made for balloon twisting.
